Prevent Battery Damage During the Summer Shutdown: Store Your Machine Correctly

The summer shutdown is approaching. Will your machine equipped with an SDK CHD, CHDe or e-Drive system be out of service for an extended period? If so, it's important to store it correctly. By following a few simple precautions, you can prevent damage to the batteries and electronics while maximizing the lifespan of your system.

Important Storage Instructions

To keep your hybrid or electric system in optimal condition, we recommend the following:

• Store the machine with a battery charge level (SOC) between 30% and 40%.
• Never store the machine with a fully charged or fully discharged battery. This can cause serious battery cell damage. In extreme cases, overcharging may even present a fire hazard.
• Store the machine in a cool, sheltered location. Whenever possible, keep it out of direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can significantly increase battery temperature and may result in permanent damage.
